Zephyr Craddock selected Howalton Day School for her son Burton Craddock his year in kindergarden from September 1958 to May or June 1959. The tuition was $35 per month. A van took the students to school in the morning and home after class. Howalton Day School was located at 5125 South Calumet Avenue, Chicago, Illinois.
Zephyr had been involed with Howalton School's many fund raiser.

... Because of the lack of funds from goverment sources Howalton has been havining money problems. In order to help keep children in a wonderful private school, The Board and the teachers along with the parents held servaral programs in order to raise money. ... One day in early Spring, they held Founder's Day and many people return to school inculing two of the ladies who established the school the two living founder were June Howe White and Doris Allen Anderson. The people who came also paid tribute to the third founder Chariotte Staratten who is now deceased.
Entertainers for the Founder's Day celebration included singers and dancers Joseph Drew, Sheila Berry, Aurelia Henton, Audrey Lacey, Theodore Green, Curtis Boyd, and Conzello Sisney with Zephy Craddock at the piano. ...
