Zephyr Craddock was Room Representative McCosh School PTA in 1959. During PTA protest in front of the Chicago Broad of Education building, Zephyr as one of the protester was on local tv and in local newspapers articles. Zephyr's son Burton was a student of McCosh.
Zephyr Craddock became Charter member of John Foster Dulles PTA when the school opened in 1962. Zephyr's son Burton was a student of John Foster Dulles when the school opened. When her son Kenneth was old enough to start kindergarden he was a student of John Foster Dulles. Zephyr Craddock was President of John Foster Dulles PTA from September 1966 to June 1968. Zephyr was Dulles PTA Historian in for 1968 to 1969. Zephyr main local PTA involvement since 1962 is John Foster Dulles school PTA. The only school PTA membership cards with a Craddock sirname after 1962 found after Zephyr died were her husband Harry Craddock PTA membership cards for son Kenneth Craddock other elementary school and his High School.
The original envelope with Zephyr's National PTA life membership card and certificate had a friendship card signed by 41 official of IPTA District One. The first signsture was Lillian Glover. One of Zephyr's District 1 (later District 20) committees was District 1 (later District 20) Lillian E. Glover Scholarship committee. This scholarship is awarded two high school students in each of the 19 Illinois PTA Districts who plan to get a college degree in the field of education. Some of the applications were mail to Zephyr home.
For about first decade of John Foster Dulles, Zephyr would cook a ham for the teachers on marking day. Dulles PTA prepared lunch for the teachers on marking day. The sudents have a day off while the teachers mark the report cards at Dulles.
During Dulles annual Taffy Apple sale in October, she would buy one or two full box which cost $18 per carton. She would give each of piano student a Taffy Apple.
While handling the Dulles paperback book sale, Zephyr would alway buys some books.
Examples of upper division office Zephyr held in Illinois Congress of Parents and Teachers (ICPT). This list is incomplete. Zephyr may be a member of an committee when she is not chairman. Most of Zephyr's PTA documents mentioning a committee only memtion the chairman.
Zephyr did not feel well enough in 2006 to attend either Illinios State PTA convention or the National PTA convention. She died Sunday July 16, 2006.
