Harry had metal model car he put together from kits with moving wheels and steering wheel likely put together in the 1940's on top for the closet by the apartment front door.
Astronomy was one of Harry hobbies. He had a collection of book of astronomy, sky charts, and telescope. He had plans to build his own telescope. The hand grinded lens was about one and a half foot in diameter. The telescope stand was pipe about 4 inches in diameter mounted in a steel tub filled with cement. Harry never made the tube to house the telescope lens. It was likely Harry started building the telescope before moving to Parkway Garden and the former address had back porch were a heavy bulky telescope could be rolled outside. Parkway Garden apartments are completely indoors.

Most of Harry photos were in black and white. Most photograpic film was developed and printed at a downtown camera store. While living in Parkway Garden, Harry would used a closet as a dark room. Harry stopped developing film and making prints when the moved moved from Parkway Garden to a single family home in 1970. Harry photos on slides were mostly in color and were take in the 1940's and early 1950's. After Harry had adult on set diabetes in the early 1980's, there was big drop in number of photos Harry would take.
Harry wanted to be an Amateur Radio Operator but had a tough time mastering Morse code. Harry had a subscription to the amateur radio magazine 73. His son Burton got his novice amateur radio license in the late 1960's. A co-worker of Harry in the Post Office, who was a amateur radio operator, gave Burton the novice class exam. Burton passed the exam. Harry used Burton records for learning Morse code but did not mastered Morse code well enought to take the Morse code part of the the exam. The last time Harry studied Morse code on records and tapes was in the early 1980's before he when to the hospital for nigth sweats and passing out. Hospital tests found that Harry had adult on set diabetes. After coming home from the hospital, Harry no longer studied Morse code.
