Zephyr Craddock Day letter from Earle and Byrd with 10 dollars
Earle Byrd used to cut the hair of Zephyr's sons Burton and Kenneth when he lived in Parkway Garden at either his home or the Craddock home.
Mr. Clinton an Mrs. Mae Hodges' check costed Zephyr $5.00. Zephyr deposited the check at Amalgamated Bank. Amalgamated Bank is one of the banks that will charge a fee to customers if they deposited a check as payment from anyone one else and the check can not be cashed. The Hodges check could not be cashed since their bank account was closed. Amalgamated Bank charged Zephyr a 5 dollars fee.
A few years earlier, one of Zephyr's adult piano student behind in lessons payments paid Zephyr $15 with 3 five dollar check. The student bank account had insufficent funds. When Zephyr deposited the three checks at Amalgamated Bank, this bank charged Zephyr $15 for three insufficent funds fee. This maybe why Zephyr had stopped depositing students checks and most other personal checks at Amalgamated Bank. Some of Zephyr accounts at other banks would not charge a fee for problems with other people bank accounts. The piano student end up paying Zephyr 30 dollars.
Zephyr and Harry Craddock would never get a money order or a cashier check from Amalgamated Bank since Amalgamated Bank charge a fee while at some their other banks money orders and cashier checks are free to bank account holders.
